Native of Tomsk appointed as new Israeli ambassador to Russia

The Israeli government appointed diplomat Zvi Heifetz as Israel’s ambassador to Russia.

"In accordance with Article 23 of the Law on Civil Service of 1959, the Cabinet decided to appoint Zvi Heifetz Ambassador to Russia instead of Dorit Golender, who is finishing her work there," RIA Novosti cited the Israeli government as saying.

He previously served as the Israeli ambassador to the United Kingdom and to Austria. Heifetz was born in 1956 in Tomsk, he previously worked in Moscow in 1989 as part of a group of Israeli diplomats at the Embassy of the Netherlands.
