The Islamic State terrorist group is posing a serious threat to Russia, the Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), Nikolay Bordyuzha, said.

According to him, IS is an absolute evil threatening all countries. Nationals of all European states, Russia and CSTO member countries are fighting for IS.

"The worst thing is that IS is expanding its influence and seizing new territories," he noted. This means that sooner or later the IS fighters will make an attempt to reach Russia's borders, he added, noting that the "situation is very serious."

According to the National Counter-Terrorism Committee, some 2500 Russians are fighting for Islamic State. "These numbers seem absolutely realistic," TASS cited Bordyuzha as saying.
