Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has declared three days of national mourning following the deaths in Mecca of more than 700 Hajj pilgrims, including at least 90 Iranian nationals.

“Offering condolences to the families of the killed pilgrims, I declare three days of national mourning in the country,” he said.

Ali Khamenei said that the Saudi government is obliged to shoulder its responsibility for this incident. "Mismanagement and improper measures were behind this tragedy,” TASS cited him as saying.
