Construction of the largest cathedral mosque of Crimea, with an area of 2.7 hectares, has begun in Simferopol.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister of Crimea, Ruslan Balbec, the mosque, which has been awaited in the country for many years, will be built in three years and will be able to accommodate up to 5000 people. The preliminary cost of the main Muslim object is 2 billion rubles from Russian sources, he added.

The general contractor is the Turkish company Erbek, RIA Novosti reports.
