Turkish company to build hydro electric plant cascade in Georgia

The Turkish company Kolin Construction and the Georgian Ministry of
Energy have prepared a memorandum at the Raddison Hotel to construct a
cascade of hydroelectric power plants on the Texura River, Georgia

reports.


The Georgian ministry told Trend that the memorandum will be signed by
Georgian minister of energy Alexander Khetaguri and the head of the
board of the Turkish company, Nadji Koroglu.


The ministry started expressing interest in constructing the
facilities in February 2010.


Four companies offered to carry out the construction – Turkey’s Limak
and Kolin Construction, Germany's 0.Balgioglu Energy Resources and the
Canadian company 2Charthage Energy. The government chose Kolin
Construction, which will build 4 hydroelectric plants. They will
produce a total of 105.7 megawatts with a yearly output of 490,000,000
kilowatts. The cascade will consist of the Erdzhiya, Tsimara, Nobulevi
and Lechakha hydroelectric power stations.


The construction will take 4 years and is worth approximately $150 million.
