Commenting on the meeting between President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and President of the United States Barack Obama, White House spokesman Josh Ernest described the Central Asian republics as a "very important ally" for the United States.

In particular, he noted that Astana plays a key role in efforts of the international community to stop promotion of nuclear weapons.

However, Ernest didn’t share any details of the talks, RIA Novosti reports.

As Vestnik Kavkaza previously reported, Nursultan Nazarbayev and Barack Obama met today in the context of the 70th session of the UN General Assembly that is taking place now in New York.
