Zarif: Russian bombings in Syria are a positive step

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has assessed the decision by the Russian authorities to start bombing Islamic State sites in Syria as a significant and positive measure.

"Any progress in the fight against IS is (a positive step)," RIA Novosti quotes his response to a corresponding question from journalists.

Zarif also noted that Western countries do not want to take any steps to assist Syrian President Bashar Assad.
