More than three thousand militants from Islamic State, Jabhat Al-Nusra and Jaish al-Yarmouk have fled Syria for Jordan, fearing a forthcoming Syrian Army offensive.

"At least three thousand militants from Islamic State, Al-Nusra and Jaish Al-Yarmouk have fled to Jordan. They are afraid of the army's advance on all fronts and the Russian airstrikes," RIA Novosti cited an army source as saying.

The source also said that the army has started to attack militants from Islamic State and Jabhat Al-Nusra in the suburbs of the capital Damascus and the provinces of Deir Ezzor and Homs, as well as near the city of Palmyra.
