Karjakin: I dedicate this victory to my friend Vugar Gashimov

Russian chess player Sergey Karjakin, who won the recent Chess World Cup in Baku, has honored the memory of Vugar Gashimov, the Azerbaijani grandmaster who passed away prematurely.

He visited the grave of his close friend and laid flowers there.

"During the World Cup, I saw that I have more friends in Baku than I had thought. I dedicate this victory in this major tournament to my friend Vugar Gashimov. I will never forget him,’’ 1news.az cites Karjakin.

Recall that Vugar Gashimov passed away on January 11th 2014.
