Ilyas Bechelov becomes senator of Kabardino-Balkaria

The Kabardino-Balkarian parliament has approved the former
parliamentary speaker, Ilyas Bechelov, as a representative of the
executive branch of the republic to the Federal Council, RIA Novosti
reports.


With the coming of Arsen Kanokov as the head of Kabardino-Balkaria,
the former representative Huseyn Chechenov resigned, deputy chairman
of the parliament Ruslan Zhanimov said.


He added that the head of Kabardino-Balkaria approved Bechelov on
November 8. 58 out of 72 deputies voted for Bechelov.


Bechelov is 59 years old. He served as the deputy head of the
department of political and educational work structure of the Interior
Ministry of Kabardino-Balkaria. In 1982-1988 he was the head of the
corrective labor institutions of the Interior Ministry.


He was a deputy of the Supreme Council of Kabardino-Balkaria, deputy
of the republic’s parliamentary council of the first calling, deputy
of the Council of Parliamentary Representatives of the second calling,
deputy of the Kabardino-Balkarian parliament of the third calling.

In 2001-2003 he was the minister of labor and social development of
Kabardino-Balkaria.


Until recently he was managing the Russian social insurance office in
Kabardino-Balkaria, and was a member of parliament.
