Erdogan puts forward conditions for deployment of missile defenses in Turkey at G20 summit
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaDuring the G20 summit held in Seoul, the Turkish Prime Minister, Recep
Tayyip Erdogan, met with the US President, Barack Obama. TRT reports
that the two sides discussed issues relating to the establishment of
missile defense systems.
According to the Turkish Prime Minister, he imparted to the head of
the American administration the "sensitivity" of Ankara on the issue
of missile defense.
"When placed in Turkey, it (the system) should cover it completely,
and not a separate part of the country," the prime minister said,
adding that Ankara is also interested in a number of technical issues,
including who will manage the elements of the missile defense system
when it is placed on Turkish territory. "I saw that they (the US)
regard these demands positively," Erdogan said.
G20 summit participants also identified a set of long-term measures to
help developing countries. This is stated in the Seoul Consensus
approved at the summit, which represent a development and long-term
action plan for overall growth, RBC reports.
