The citizens of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey can stay in Iran without visas from 15 to 90 days under new visa requirement regulations.

In this regard, Iran has started to issue 30-day visas for tourists from certain countries with a possible extension of visas for another 15 days, the abc.az reports.

The instant visa program is part of a wider plan by the Iranian government to boost revenues through attracting tourists. The country plans to attract 20 million foreign tourists in order to generate up to $30 billion in revenues a year by 2025.

The governor of Eastern Azerbaijan Province of Iran, Ismail Jabbarzade, said that Iran is expecting similar steps from Azerbaijan.

Jabbarzade said that the Azeri government intends to create a new system to facilitate visa issuance for Iranians, adding that the two sides agreed to expedite the issue of re-establishment of flights between Tabriz and Baku.
