Garibashvili says Georgian TV supports opposition
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaGeorgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has claimed that all the major TV channels of the country are opposition-leaning.
"It is completely unknown who has owned the Rustavi 2 TV channel for years. We do not care whose channel this is or who will become the next owner. It is important for me that different channels are working in Georgia. The owner is not important for me, but justice should be restored. I and any other citizen would think that way. This applies not only to TV companies, but also to enterprises, houses and other things that have been taken away in their hundreds and thousands. However, all this must be done by legal means, by independent courts, and not through our interference. That is why we are completely estranged from the process initially. We believe that this is a dispute between Saakashvili and the former owner of the channel, Kibar Khalvashi,’’ the Georgia online news agency cites him as saying.
