Prisoners pardoned in Turkmenistan due to Independence Day

Turkmenistan’s President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has signed a decree pardoning 1020 convicts. The president’s pardon decree comes on the occasion of the Day of Turkmenistan’s Independence, celebrated on October 27-28.

Berdimuhamedov signed the decree “being guided by the principles of mercy and humanism, bequeathed by our great ancestors, to further strengthen the unity and solidarity of Turkmen society and every family, as well as in honor of celebrations of the 24th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence.”

The president also instructed the authorities throughout the country to solve issues of employment of pardoned citizens, Trend reports.
