OSCE summit in Astana to discuss Caucasus conflicts
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe OSCE summit in Astana on December 1-2 will see talks on conflicts,
including the situation in the Caucasus, in particular, in Georgia,
General Secretary of OSCE Mark Perrin de Brichambaut said, RIA Novosti
reports.
He said that the sides will also confirm the principles of the
Helsinki Act, the founding document of the organization.
Another topic is arms reduction and the fight against new challenges
and threats in Afghanistan and Central Asia.
Brichambaut said that the coming summit will be the first in the past
11 years to be held in Central Asia. He added that the summit will
demonstrate the readiness of the OSCE to react to new challenges.
Heads of 56 member nations and 12 partner nations of OSCE and heads of
68 international organizations will be at the summit.
OSCE summits have been held six times since the organization was
established in 1975 .The last summit was held in 1999 in Istanbul.
