Nazarbayev: new partnership agreement with EU to be signed soon

The EU leadership will pay an official visit to Astana soon to sign a new agreement with Kazakhstan on expanded partnership and cooperation, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev said at the ceremony of presenting credentials to ambassadors. Among the newly appointed heads of diplomatic missions - the head of European Union Delegation in Kazakhstan, Traian Hristea.

"In October 2014, during my visit to Brussels, we have completed negotiations on agreement to expand partnership and cooperation with the EU, as well as on conditions of accession to the WTO. We expect the EU authorities with an official visit to Astana for the signing of this historic document," the head of state said.

The press service of the EU Delegation in Kazakhstan, noted that new agreement will replace the agreement on partnership and cooperation of 1999, and "will provide solid and relevant foundation to the EU-Kazakhstan relations". It will be signed after the approval of the document by the parliaments of 28 European Union member states.

Agreement covers 29 areas, including economy, trade and investment, justice and security, law, human rights, protection of personal data, TASS reports.
