Armenia continues losing population
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaArmenia’s population decreased by 6,600 people in the first 9 months of 2015, the Armenian National Statistical Service (NSS) said.
As of October 1, 2015 the country had 3 million and 4 thousand permanent population, including 1.910.9 million of urban population and 1.093.1 million of rural population, ARKA reports.
The decrease of population resulted from the prevalence of negative migration balance of 16,300 people over the natural population growth of 9,800, the service said.
The number of newborn children in the first 9 months of 2015 decreased by 2.5% in comparison with the same period of 2014 to 30,666. The number of deaths decreased by 0.7% to 20,900. The natural population growth amounted to 9,766 people.
