Construction of Tbilisi-Akhalkalaki highway completed in Georgia
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaA new highway linking Tbilisi to Akhalkalaki - the center of the southern Georgian region of Javakheti, densely populated by Armenians, has been completed, RBC reports.
The minister of regional development of Georgia, Ramaz Nikolaishvili, noted that now the route from Tbilisi to Akhalkalaki, located in the border area with Turkey, takes two and a half hours instead of eight. 15 more bridges were built to cut the journey.
The length of the road is 224 km, the costs of its construction came to 209 million dollars. The works were financed by the US government and the Millennium Challenge Corporation
