Russia to create a unified management of economic security

The  departments for economic affairs will be merged with the departments for tax crimes into a joint structure responsible for economic security; this process will take place in the police administrations in all regions of Russia, a spokesman of the Central Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs told the Vedomosti newspaper.
Similar changes will also occur on the lower administrative levels.
According to the spokesman, the merging of the two departments will allow staff to be reduced and get rid of inefficient and compromised employees.
