Viktor Ozerov: people in the Caucasus feel safe
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaA visiting session of the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security has taken place recently in Ingushetia. It was conducted by today’s guest of Vestnik Kavkaz, the chairman of the committee, Senator of the Khabarovsk Region, Viktor Ozerov, who told about the topics and the results of the meeting.
"It has become a good tradition of our committee to hold visiting sessions outside Moscow. We visited all the military districts, fleets in all the federal districts of Russia. We travelled from Kaliningrad to Sakhalin, from Murmansk to Ingushetia. Our main task is to monitor law enforcement practices and the laws approved by the Council of the Federation. We bring quite significant empirical material from each of these trips that we use to improve the legislation of the Russian Federation. We also use arguments and facts to build our dialogue with the relevant ministries, the government of the Russian Federation, as well as the presidential administration. And our next meeting and its topics were chosen deliberately. We wanted to look at the example of the Republic of Ingushetia how the law on counter-terrorism is being implemented there,’’ the chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security said.
"The anti-terrorist committees of the Federation play an important role in the context of the general system of counter-terrorism, which was built in our country, starting from the National Anti-Terrorist Committee, the federal bodies of the executive authorities responsible for counter-terrorism. Because people live in a particular village, district, city, country, and they want their families to be in safety. Therefore, the meeting was held in one of the Federal constituencies of the Caucasus region,’’ Viktor Ozerov said.
"The price of preservation of the constitutional order, the rule of law in the Caucasus is high, especially today, when we speak about terrorist threats to the Russian Federation. We take into account the geographical proximity to the area of the ISIS militants, so we wanted to see how people live there now, how they feel, how the state authorities of the Republic of Ingushetia work in terms of counter-terrorism. I can compare the current situation with the situation in 2008. The whole territory of Ingushetia was protected by the law enforcement agencies and special services with weapons. Now, we crossed almost the entire territory of the republic and returned through Vladikavkaz to Magas. People feel in safety now,’’ he stressed.
"The most important thing is that we are constantly communicating with people: we visited cities, hospitals, opened a shop of baby food, were in the house of creativity of children and in many other places. In our presence, people thanked the head of the republic, people's deputies, because the situation has become safer. And the second thing was when we discuss the results, we also represent certain regions in the Federation Council. There are many positive results, which can be brought to the Far East. For example, Yunus-bek Yevkurov's mobile number is known to everyone in the republic. All messages and phone calls, including for anti-terrorism measures, are directed to him. And if we summarize the results of the leadership of Ingushetia, the federal bodies of the executive authority in the republic, I would describe it in several words: it is a comprehensive approach, preventive and proactive work,’’ the head of the committee on defense and security said.
