Uzbekistan completes construction of the railway to the Afghan city of Mazar-i-Sharif

State Joint-Stock Railway Company "Uzbekistan Temir Yollari” (Uzbekistan Railways) has completed the construction of the railway from Hairatan to Mazar-i-Sharif in Afghanistan,  KazTAG reports with a reference to the railway company.

In  2009, Uzbekistan Railways and the Ministry of Public Works of Afghanistan signed a contract about the Hayraton-Mazar-i-Sharif railway. The project, worth of $ 180 million, includes builing 75- kilometer section between Hairaton and Mazar-i-Sharif and the reconstruction of the 21-kilometer stretch between Termez and Hairaton together with the creation of the related infrastructure.
