Kutaisis starts construction of government building

Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili took part in founding the house
of government of Kutaisi, to where the government will move in a year.

The president emphasized that the Mayor of Tbilisi, Gigi Ugulava,
initiated the move. The Georgian parliament was earlier expected to
move to Kutaisi, as a more accessible city.

Kutaisi is located in Western Georgia on both sides of the River
Rioni, 125-300 meters above sea level. It is connected with Tbilisi
via a 220-kilometer railroad.

Saakashvili noted that the government formed after the Rose Revolution
differs from the old one. It has 6 basic principles – it is small,
mobile, uncorrupted, innovative, active and oriented worldwide. He
added that the World Bank recognizes Georgia as a leader, in terms of
reforms.
