Chechnya celebrates Peace Day

Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov congratulated residents of the North Caucasus republic on Peace Day – the 1st anniversary of the lifting of the counter-terrorist regime – on Friday.

“Exactly a year has passed since the authorities decided to end the counter-terrorist operation. It is a fact that the Chechen people are victorious in their fight against terrorism, Wahhabism, and extremism,” he said.

“We proved that we can maintain stability, and neutralize terrorists. I congratulate everyone on this. The Chechen people have a future. We will do everything to make it bright and joyful,” Kadyrov said.

The event is being marked with concerts and firework displays.
