Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that Russian President Vladimir Putin made him an unexpected present of a letter, which was written by the founder of the Jewish state and its first head of government, David Ben-Gurion.

"At the end of our conversation, President Putin surprised me when he gave me a letter by David Ben-Gurion, which the Russian government bought at an auction. This letter is now in my office," Netanyahu said.

It is reported that the letter was presented during the last Israeli prime minister's visit to Moscow in September, RIA Novosti reports.
