Azerbaijan begins to export gas to Iran granting free resources

After an extended session a memorandum on mutual understanding in the sphere of energy and transport was signed by the minister for foreign affairs of Azerbaijan, Elmar Mamedijrov, and of Iran, Manuchehr Mottaki.
According to the State Committee on statistics of Azerbaijan, in January - September 2010 turnover between Iran and Azerbaijan amounted to $167.26 million, $ 76.87 million imported from Iran and $90.39 million exported to Iran.
Azerbaijan and Iran cooperate in the spheres of gas and energy exchange. The countries are connected by the Gazi-Magomed-Astara-Bind-Biand pipeline. The SOCAR company is building a new compression station in the Astarinsk region, which could increase the extent of gas transfer to Iran.
