Drug addiction among women in Iran grows

The head of Iran’s State Welfare Organization, Anoushiravan Mohseni, said, that the number of female drug addicts has increased in Iran.

He stressed that today, there are 1.3 million drug addicts in Iran. "22% of them use industrially manufactured drugs," Trend cited him as saying.

Every day 8 people die in the country because of an overdose, the country’s Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology said. According to the statistics of Iran’s Drug Control Headquarters, 9.6% (130,000 people) of drug addicts in Iran are women.
