Armenia increases tourist flow from Iran

According to the plan of tourism development, Armenia aims to see 3
million tourists annually in 2030, compared with the current 600,000,
head of the department for tourism management and territorial economic
development of Armenian Ministry of Economy Mekhak Apresyan said at a
press-conference, Panarmenian reports.


The official believes that the country will achieve the indicators
ahead of schedule. He hopes that the country will have a tourist rate
of 20-25%, like in the pre-recession period, registered in 2001-2007.
The 'Wings of Tatev' project is expected to improve the tourist
numbers from Iran and other countries.


In the last 2-3, years the tourist flow from Iran to Armenia rose.
80,000 out of 488 000 tourists in January-September came from Iran,
last year there were 40,000 tourists from Iran.


According to a recent polling each tourist spends an average of
$700-800 in Armenia, but Apresyan believes that they need the
indicator to reach at least $1,000.
