US would welcome Georgia joining NATO

Washington supports Georgia joining NATO, US Secretary for Europe and Eurasian Affairs Philip Gordon said.

"Cooperation must continue. The US is supporting the summit in Lisbon and Georgia joining NATO," he said.

"NATO disagrees with Russian activities in Georgia. The members of NATO support the integrity and sovereignty of Georgia. We cooperate with Russia, but disagree on Georgia", the American diplomat said.
