Georgian Defense Minister Tina Khidasheli believes that there are no obstacles to the country joining NATO. "If NATO is the next stop, it will be Georgia. There are no obstacles to our membership in the alliance," she said at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington.

The former Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, Heather Conley, asked to comment on last week's statement by the heads of diplomatic missions of NATO member states on their intention to prepare a set of measures to more closely cooperate with Georgia before the NATO summit scheduled for next year in Warsaw.

According to Khidasheli, the statement "is written in diplomatic language", which she "never understands." The head of the Defense Ministry proposed comparing current document to the previous one. "You will notice the progress. The document says that Georgia has everything needed to prepare for NATO membership," Sputnik Georgia cited Khidasheli as saying.
