Erdogan: Turkish troops in Iraq are a guarantee of its security

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erodogan has said that the presence of Turkish troops in Iraq is necessary for the security of Turkey.

"If the central government of Iraq does’t take the necessary measures against possible threats to Turkey, then we have to do it ourselves," Interfax cites him as saying.

"Iraq is a place where terrorist groups, especially Daesh (ISIS) are very cruel and they pose a threat to Turkey," he explained.
