The Deputy Head of the National Security Service of Armenia, Armen Darbinyan, was relieved from his post by order of President Serzh Sargsyan, Novosti Armenia reports, with a reference to Armenian Public Television. Darbinyan was replaced by Garegin Mkhitaryan.

This summer some of the opposition Armenian media circulated a document saying that Darbinyan is a former Russian agent. A spokesman for the Armenian National Security Service denied this information, saying that "the provocative material undermines every principle of state security."
