22nd Azerbaijan Championship and Interregional Cup in rhythmic gymnastics start in Baku

The 22nd Azerbaijani Championship and the Interregional Cup in Rhythmic Gymnastics started at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku today.

About 160 athletes will take part in the competitions.

On the first day, athletes born in 2005-2007 (youngsters) will compete in the all-round in three exercises – without apparatus, with hoop and with ball.

On the second day of the competitions, gymnasts of the same age category will compete in the group exercises on the floor. Gymnasts born in 2003-2004 (pre-juniors) will join the events in the individual program. They will perform with a rope, a hoop, a ball and clubs.

On December 19th the winners will be determined among juniors (born in 2000-2002) and seniors (born in 1999 and older).

The youngsters, pre-juniors, juniors and seniors categories will compete for the 2nd Cup of regions, which will be awarded to the strongest gymnasts in each category.

On the concluding day of the events, rhythmic gymnastics fans will be made happy by the performances of the team’s leader, the winner of a 1st European Games silver medal and a 2015 European Championships bronze medal, Marina Durunda, and two-time prize-winner of the 2014 European Championships, Zhala Piriyeva, will perform on the last day of the competitions.
