The new stadium in Kabardino-Balkaria’s Baksan Region has held its
first matches, RIA Novosti reports.

Teams from the villages of Kuba and Islamey played a football match,
ending 3:1. The Minister of Sports of Kabardino-Balkaria, Aslan
Afaunov, presented the awards, together with a special guest, Minister
of Agriculture Albert Kazdokhov. He was the former head of the region.

The football field covers approximately a hectare. There are 300 seats
for spectators, the head of the press-service of Baksan Region’s
administration Zalina Shomakhova said. The stadium is located between
the city of Baksan and the village of Islamey. A 400-meter road was
built for the stadium.

The Russian federal program of developing physical fitness and sports
for 2006-2015 and a subprogram of developing football for 2008-2015
received 10.2 million rubles from the federal budget and over a
million from the republic’s budget.

Albert Kazdokhov said that Zayukovo will soon have a modern sports
complex with a wrestling hall. Similar facilities have already opened
in Nartkala and Baksan. The Terek and Leksen Regions will have
stadiums with synthetic grass.
