Turkmenistan produces 1.1 million tons of cotton

Today the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan reported on the harvest. According to the ministry, this year 1.1 million tons of raw cotton, harvested from 545 thousand hectares of irrigated land, were stocked.

At the same time, 12 upland varieties are being grown on 95% of the area allocated for cotton, and long staple 'Eloten-14' on 5%. Cotton accounts for a significant portion of the exports of Turkmenistan, and is also largely consumed by the textile industry of the country, Trend reports.
