New head of Georgian Foreign Ministry meets Ambassador of US and EU representative
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaYesterday the newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Mikheil Dzhanelidze, held meetings with the head of the EU representative office in the country, Janos Herman, and the US Ambassador, Ian Kelly.
At the meeting with Janos Herman they discussed mechanisms for effective implementation of the reforms envisaged by the agenda of the Association between Georgia and the EU. The parties stressed the importance of liberalizing the visa regime between the EU and Georgia and emphasized the importance of the functioning of the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia in the process of a peaceful settlement of conflicts. Particular attention was paid to the regional and transit importance of Georgia and reforms carried out in this direction, Georgia Online reports.
At the meeting with the US Ambassador they discussed the main directions of cooperation in the framework of the Charter on Strategic Partnership and the prospects for further deepening of relations. The parties emphasized the role of the US as a strategic partner of Georgia in the process of the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of the country.
