Turkey to form its own space agency

The Turkish government has started the procedure of establishing a national space agency, Anadolu reports.

According to Trend, the Space Technology Agency under the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications is at the stage of completion of the bill on the National Space Agency. Its provisions will determine its budget, status and relations with international organizations.

The agency is being established in order to ensure the national interests of Turkey. The agency's headquarters will be based in Ankara.

The bill is to be submitted to the Parliament for discussion soon.
