A subdivision of the anti-drug police in the central province of Yazd in Iran has conducted a major operation recently, seizing 652 kg of illicit drugs, Tasnim reports.

The operation was carried out after the police received information about the transportation of drugs through the desert area, the chief of department, Colonel Mohammad Hossein Sotudenia said.

"The pursuit of a car that transported drugs lasted several hours. The police caught up with it in the neighboring province of Kerman to the south-east of Yazd. Two smugglers were arrested and a batch of drugs were confiscated,’’ Tass reports.
