Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to the results of the republic's development in 2015 that no progress was made towards a settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in 2015.

"No progress was made towards a settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in 2015 and the last meeting with the Armenian president was only formal," APA cited him as saying.

This is due to the fact that Armenia does not want peace, trying to maintain the status quo as long as possible, it doesn't intend to withdraw its troops from the occupied territories. "Armenia wants to see the negotiations as a never-ending process in the future. Our position is completely different, we want the conflict to be resolved. The OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs have repeatedly stated that they also want the conflict to be settled. This is what the mediators are supposed to do. Unfortunately, no pressure in this respect is being exerted on the invader," Aliyev noted.

In this regard, the President stressed that Azerbaijan’s position regarding the conflict is based on international law and the resolutions of the UN Security Council. "Azerbaijan got the upper hand along the contact line in 2015. And Azerbaijan will keep on building up its combat capability," the head of state assured.
