The price of the cheap Canadian oil brand Western Canadian Select has dropped to 14 dollars per barrel. It is worth noting that this brand of oil is the benchmark (indicator or financial asset, the yield of which serves as a model for comparing the effectiveness of investments) for heavy oil brands such as Urals, Brent and WTI.

Other cheaper brands of oil also showed a decline. For example, the benchmark of Middle East oil supplies to Asia oil futures from Oman were trading at 25 dollars per barrel, RBC reports.
