126 hostages released in capital city of Burkina Faso

The terrorist takeover of the Splendid Hotel in the capital of Burkina Faso is over, with 126 hostages freed, Internal Affairs Minister Simon Compaore said.

According to the agency, 33 people were injured. Three jihadists were killed during the operation: an Arab and two black Africans.

"The operation continues in the Hotel Yibi, which is situated not far from Cafe Cappuccino," Interfax cited Compaore as saying.

Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb has claimed responsibility for the assault.
