NATO and Russia should have more opportunities for negotiations, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier stated, speaking at a press conference in Berlin.

"We need more channels for negotiations in order to avoid misunderstandings," he noted, commenting on the possible resumption of the work of the Russia-NATO Council.

Earlier, in an interview to German media, the Foreign Minister said that the Council may soon resume its work at the level of ambassadors, TASS notes.
