Armenia intends to build new nuclear power unit after repair of old one

The head of the Armenian Ministry of Energy Yervand Zakharyan announced today that the government is to build a new nuclear power unit. "We have no reason to abandon this project from an economic point of view," he stressed.

He also noted, referring to his previous request for renewal of operation of the Armenian NPP till 2027 after repair works, that the Cabinet will discuss the construction of an additional power unit with a capacity of 600 MW, RIA Novosti reports.
