Jean-Claude Juncker calls to convene summit on refugees with Turkey

The head of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker has called for an emergency summit with Turkey to discuss the ongoing refugee crisis, sources in the EC report.

According to Germany's Rheinische Post newspaper, the summit could be held in late January or in early February. An agreement on the crisis settlement and securing the external borders of the European Union could be reached at the summit.

However, only the President of the European Council Donald Tusk can convene an emergency summit, RIA Novosti notes.
