Armenia's national debt exceeds 5 billion dollars, media report

The national debt of Armenia has officially crossed the mark of 5 billion dollars: at the end of last year, it amounted to 5.071 billion dollars, a debt unseen in the country, the Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper writes.

"4.3 billion dollars of that amount is foreign debt, and 461 million dollars is internal. It is not yet known what percentage of the gross domestic product our national debt occupies, because GDP data will be released only two months later. However, according to preliminary figures, the national debt has already reached half of our GDP," NEWS.am reported.
