International festival organized in Anatolia

The Russian diaspora in Anatolia, the largest diaspora of the region, held the First International People's Friendship Festival in Turkey on Saturday. The festival was organized with the help of the Russian Consulate in the region and local officials, RIA Novosti reports.

Maria Sorokina, the head of the Russian Culture Center in Anatolia, spoke about the various art competitions in the festival programme. Dance performances and sports activities will be held in the framework of the festival, as well as cooking contests.

"The main characteristic of this festival is that it's completely organized by the Russian diaspora in Anatolia and the Russian
Consulate. However, local officials, including the Governor of the province, have supported our initiative," the Russian General Consul in Anatolia, Mr. Khusanov, said.
