US urges Russia to stop supporting Bashar Assad

Representative of the US State Department Mark Toner stated that the US urges Russia to stop carrying out bombings in Syria.

"We need to see real actions. This includes a commitment by the Russian Federation to take the specific actions that it has pledged to do over the last three days," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

Toner said that Washington needs to see the end of bombings and the end of support for Assad. He also stressed that the US is counting on the fact that Russia will influence the Syrian authorities so that they would participate in the negotiations.
