The fire of Tsibari village in Tsuntin Region of Dagestan has been extinguished, RIA Novosti reports, citing a spokesman of the Emergencies Ministry.

17 houses were saved, including a school, kindergarten and a surgeon post.

The ministry had reported earlier that only 10 houses were saved.

According to the ministry, Tsibari has 397 families and 95 houses and a school. Over 80 houses burned down. The nearest fire-fighters are located 4 hours away.

The village is located 2.5 kilometers above the sea level. The fire kept climbing up from the lower part of the village, due to high winds. A mosque burned down.

The Emergencies Ministry believes that the fire was caused by electrical problems or careless handling of fire, head of the press-service of the regional center of the ministry, Oleg Grekov, said.

The region will have a fire department opened on December 2. Fire-fighters say that presence of a fire-fighter group nearby wouldn’t have helped much due to the mountainous territory.

The villagers were accommodated in nearby villages.
