Iran strengthens border security before elections

Iran has strengthened its border security in connection with the upcoming parliamentary elections, the commander of the border troops of Iran Qassem Rezai informed.

"In anticipation of the elections we will strengthen border control by increasing the number of specialists and opening a new special headquarters for command of border troops. For this purpose, from February 20th the 'Mekdad' special headquarters started its work, it will operate until the end of elections," RIA Novosti quotes him as saying.

Parliamentary elections in Iran will be held on February 26th. Elections to the Iranian Assembly of Experts will be held on the same day.
