Putin and Rouhani discuss agreements on Syria

Russian President Vladimir Putin has held a telephone conversation with President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Rouhani.

The main attention was paid to "the Syrian issues, in particular the discussion of the initiatives and proposals contained in the Joint Statement of Russia and the United States on the cessation of hostilities in Syria," the press service of the Kremlin said.

"They also stressed the importance of the further joint work of Russia and Iran on the Syrian settlement issues, including the continuation of a decisive struggle" with Daesh, Jabhat al-Nusrah and other terrorist groups included in the corresponding list of the UN Security Council.

Earlier, Putin held telephone talks with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud.
