The government of Russia has decided to establish a commission for the
social-economic development of the North Caucasian Federal District
(NCFD), Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said today, RIA Novosti
reports.

Putin was proposed to head the commission.

Until recently Russia had only one such coordination and consulting
structure, the state commission for social-economic development of the
Far East, Buryat Republic, Trans-Baikal and Irkutsk Region, headed by
the First Vice-Premier Igor Shuvalov.

Putin noted that in September the Strategy of Social-Economic
Development of the NCFD until 2025 was approved.

They approved the list of priority investment projects and plans for
development of the social sphere in the North Caucasus.

The region will receive budget funds, investments from individuals,
major companies, and development institutions.
